Start with the complete weekend

The official tournament runs from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 January 2027 on the frozen Lake St. Moritz. The organiser publishes polo, hospitality and social activity across the three days, with some functions requiring separate tickets or invitations. A flight plan should therefore begin with the client's actual first commitment and finish after the final hotel, meeting or onward-travel requirement—not simply mirror the tournament's headline dates.

Arriving on the day of a fixed hospitality booking leaves little resilience if an aircraft, slot, weather condition or road transfer changes. Where a commitment is important, an earlier arrival or a flexible airport strategy may protect the itinerary more effectively than selecting the closest runway alone.

Include in the first enquiry

  • Passenger names, dates and preferred departure windows
  • Origin airport and any acceptable alternatives
  • Hotel, chalet or exact St. Moritz destination
  • Every suitcase, ski bag and oversize item
  • Ticketed, invitation-only or time-critical commitments
  • Preferred road or overnight contingency

Samedan or Zurich: compare the whole journey

Engadin Airport at Samedan is the nearest airport to St. Moritz. The event organiser describes it as approximately ten minutes from the resort by car. That proximity can be valuable, but it does not mean every aircraft or itinerary can use Samedan. The licensed operator must confirm aircraft performance, crew qualification, current airport conditions, handling, parking and weather for the proposed movement.

Zurich provides a major international and business-aviation alternative. Zurich Airport publishes a General Aviation Center and requires an airport slot for relevant movements. It can support a broader aircraft choice and a more resilient arrival strategy, but it leaves a longer surface or separately arranged helicopter transfer into the Engadin. Milan or Munich may also be considered when they improve aircraft positioning or the client's wider itinerary; the final choice should be based on current operator advice rather than a generic ranking.

03

Samedan has a winter operating envelope

Engadin Airport's published operating information states that the airport operates throughout the year. Its winter schedule begins at 08:00 local time and continues until the end of evening civil twilight, with customs available during operating hours. Those published hours are planning inputs, not confirmation that a particular flight will be accepted.

St. Moritz's elevation, terrain and winter conditions make aircraft performance and current weather material. The operating carrier decides whether the aircraft, crew, runway conditions and proposed timing are suitable. Louvani will not describe an option as confirmed until the relevant third-party provider has accepted it.

04

Zurich is an alternative, not an instant substitute

Zurich Airport's official business-aviation guidance requires passengers to be escorted between the General Aviation Center and the aircraft and to complete the applicable security process. The handler coordinates the ground arrangements, while the airport and relevant authorities control access, slots and facilities.

If Samedan becomes unsuitable, changing to Zurich also changes the ground plan. The itinerary should allow for baggage delivery, vehicle loading, winter roads and the client's final resort address. A fallback only works when the driver, vehicle capacity and commercial terms have been considered before departure.

05

Aircraft choice follows the winter mission

The most appropriate aircraft depends on departure point, runway performance, passenger count, baggage, weather, crew requirements and the selected airport. A larger cabin may suit a longer flight or substantial ski equipment but cannot be assumed suitable for the closest airport. A smaller aircraft may offer different access while changing cabin, range or baggage expectations.

Louvani can compare suitable proposals from licensed operators, but the operating carrier performs the aircraft-specific calculations and retains the final operational decision. An illustrative aircraft category or website image is never a guarantee of the aircraft that will be available for the requested dates.

06

Declare skis and luggage before sourcing

Ski bags, hard-shell cases, boots and winter clothing can occupy more usable volume than the passenger count suggests. Provide the dimensions and approximate weight of every oversize item at the first enquiry. Cabin and hold layouts vary even within an aircraft category, and a bag that fits one aircraft may not fit another.

If the preferred aircraft cannot accommodate everything, the realistic choices may include a different aircraft, reduced baggage or separate surface transport. These arrangements should be confirmed in writing rather than left for the departure day.

07

Build a weather-resilient transfer plan

The organiser advises that St. Moritz can be reached by road from Zurich, Milan, Munich or Innsbruck in approximately three to four hours, subject to route and conditions. A road transfer is therefore an important planning option, but its timing should not be presented as fixed. Traffic, snow, pass conditions, the chosen airport and the final address all matter.

A helicopter transfer from Zurich may be considered through a suitable licensed provider. It remains subject to daylight, weather, aircraft availability, permissions and operator acceptance, and it should not be sold as a guaranteed connection. The strongest itinerary has an agreed road alternative and sufficient margin for the client's important commitments.

How Louvani coordinates the request

  1. Map the whole itinerary. We collect flight, hotel, event, passenger and baggage requirements.
  2. Compare sensible gateways. Samedan, Zurich and relevant alternatives are considered around the actual mission.
  3. Request operator proposals. Suitable options are sourced from licensed third-party aircraft operators.
  4. Review the material terms. Aircraft, baggage, airport, schedule, cancellation terms and contingencies are checked.
  5. Coordinate the confirmed journey. Flight instructions are aligned with the relevant handler and requested onward providers.
Responsibilities

Independent intermediary, licensed operator

Louvani Jets is an independent private aviation intermediary. We help clients define the journey, source charter proposals and coordinate requested arrangements through suitable third parties.

Louvani Jets does not own or operate aircraft or helicopters. The contracted aircraft operator retains responsibility for the aircraft, crew, safety, flight planning, performance calculations and operational decisions. Airports, handlers, chauffeurs, helicopter providers, hotels and the event organiser control their own services.

Event admission, hospitality, accommodation and invitations are separate from any flight arrangement unless expressly stated in a confirmed third-party proposal.

Snow Polo FAQ

Common questions

When is the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz 2027?

The official organiser confirms the 42nd tournament for Friday 22 to Sunday 24 January 2027 on the frozen Lake St. Moritz.

What is the closest airport to St. Moritz?

Engadin Airport at Samedan is the closest published airport option. The organiser describes it as approximately ten minutes from St. Moritz by car, but the operator must confirm whether it is suitable for the proposed aircraft, crew, weather and timing.

Can I fly to Zurich and transfer by helicopter?

A separately arranged helicopter transfer may be considered through a suitable licensed provider, subject to weather, daylight, permissions and availability. A road alternative should be planned in advance.

Can skis travel on the private jet?

Often, but there is no universal allowance. Share the dimensions and weight of every ski bag and suitcase before an aircraft is proposed so the operator can confirm the permitted load and stowage.

Does booking a flight include Snow Polo tickets or hospitality?

No. Event tickets, hospitality and invitations are controlled separately by the organiser or relevant provider unless they are expressly included in a confirmed third-party arrangement.

Does Louvani Jets operate the aircraft?

No. Louvani acts as an independent intermediary. Every flight is performed by a contracted licensed third-party operator that retains operational control and safety responsibility.
