The fixed-wing sector normally ends at a suitable Swiss gateway, followed by road travel. A helicopter transfer may be considered only when a licensed provider, weather, landing permissions and the specific itinerary allow it.
Zurich is a practical business-aviation gateway; Samedan may suit some aircraft and wider Engadin itineraries, but its high-altitude location and seasonal operating limits make it a case-by-case option rather than a default shortcut to Davos.
The best arrival airport is the one that produces a reliable door-to-door itinerary, not simply the shortest line on a map.
Zurich Airport (ZRH) publishes dedicated business-aviation guidance and lists its General Aviation Center and handling providers. The airport also says a valid slot is required for arrivals and departures. Zurich can be a sensible starting point for a Davos road transfer, subject to live aircraft, slot, stand and handling arrangements.
Engadin Airport at Samedan (SMV / LSZS) is an Alpine airport serving the Engadin. It sits at 1,707 metres above sea level; the airport describes its operating environment as demanding and requires pilot briefing. Its published winter operating period ends at evening civil twilight. Samedan should therefore be evaluated for the particular aircraft, qualified crew, weather, operating window and onward route rather than assumed to be interchangeable with Zurich.
Other gateways can be considered when they suit the passenger's origin, onward programme and live aviation constraints. Louvani can compare the complete proposal, but the contracted operator makes the final operational and safety decisions.
January Alpine flying can be affected by snow, visibility, wind and runway conditions. A private aircraft does not remove these constraints. Samedan's airport safety guidance specifically highlights its altitude and valley approach. Its published information for the 2026 Forum also included temporary airspace restrictions and prior-permission procedures; those were 2026-specific and must not be treated as the rules for the next meeting.
Before accepting a proposal, ask how an alternate airport, aircraft repositioning or a changed road itinerary would be handled if the preferred plan becomes unavailable. Helicopter services also remain subject to weather, permissions, aircraft and pilot suitability; they should never be promised as a guaranteed recovery option.
The operator and local handler must check current aeronautical publications, notices, slots, parking and any new Forum-week restrictions for the actual flight. Leaving useful schedule flexibility is often more valuable than targeting the latest possible arrival.
Tell us the departure city or airport, the latest acceptable arrival in Davos, passenger and baggage details, and whether the group is attending other Swiss destinations.
